Short answers to the questions we are asked most often.
What is a seed?
The seed is the text you type in the player field: a word, a first name, a sentence of up to 64 characters. The site turns it into a number, and that number decides the whole landscape. With the same seed, you always get exactly the same landscape.
Can two people have the same landscape?
Yes, if they type the same seed and choose the same style. The calculation is deterministic: same inputs, same image, on every screen. For a landscape nobody else will have, use a seed of your own: a date, a place or an invented word.
How are the images of the atelier collections made?
These images are computed by a program, like the landscapes, but they are fixed: each print is a finished image, printed as it is, with no seed and no framing. The Flowers collection draws on nonflowers by Lingdong Huang, credited on the Credits page.
Is the landscape endless?
It scrolls without end, as if seen from a train: as you move on, you keep discovering new cypresses, villages and sailing boats. You can pause, go back or move faster. In practice the length is immense but finite, and every point of the journey can be found again with the same seed.
Which canvas formats do you offer?
Two formats, both on a wooden frame: 50 x 70 cm in portrait and 70 x 50 cm in landscape format. You pause the landscape, choose the orientation of the canvas, then the part of the landscape to print. The full table of dimensions is on the offer page.
What is the price, delivery included?
A framed landscape canvas costs €100, including VAT and delivery within France. Prints from the atelier collections each have their own price, shown on their page. The amount shown when you order is the amount you pay, by card, through a secure payment page. The invoice arrives by e-mail once the payment is confirmed.
How do I pay?
Payment is made online, in euros, by card, on Stripe's secure page. The order is firm once the payment is confirmed. No card data goes through our servers.
Where do you deliver?
For now, we only deliver within France. You enter your address when you pay, and addresses in other countries are not accepted. International delivery may come later, but we make no promise. Delivery within France costs nothing extra.
How long does delivery take?
Allow 1 week to 15 days between your order and delivery, for a landscape canvas as for a print from the atelier collections. The canvas is printed to order after payment, then shipped. Tracking arrives by e-mail.
Do you deliver to Corsica and overseas territories?
Corsica is delivered like the rest of France, at no extra cost. French overseas departments and territories are not delivered yet.
Who prints, and on what?
Your canvas is printed by Gelato, a network of print partners. Your landscape is printed on a canvas stretched over a slim FSC-certified wooden frame, ready to hang. Each canvas is made to order, after your payment, from the exact landscape you saw on screen.
Is the canvas ready to hang?
Yes. The canvas arrives stretched over a slim FSC-certified wooden frame. The sides of the frame are covered by the image, mirrored past the edge, so no extra frame is needed.
Can a canvas be returned?
A landscape canvas, no: it is made from the seed and framing you chose, and the law grants no right of withdrawal for a personalised product. A print from the atelier collections, yes: you have 14 days from receipt, return costs paid by you. The details are in the terms and conditions of sale.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed. You can browse the landscapes, choose a print and order without signing up or choosing a password. When you pay, you only give your e-mail address (for the invoice and tracking) and your delivery address.
Does the site set cookies?
No, the public site sets no cookies. Visits are measured with Plausible, a cookie-free tool that does not track visitors. That is why there is no consent banner. Only the payment goes through Stripe's secure service.
Who sells the canvases?
The canvases are sold by WF DEVELOPMENT, a company based in Aniane, which publishes the Au loin site. For any question about an order, write to contact@auloin.com.
